Biometric technology is becoming widely used in personal identification system substituting existing conventional methods such as password and passport. Extracting feature vectors corresponding to individual palmprint images and performing palmprint matching based on some distance metrics is a major approach for palmprint recognition in past years. Matching performance is significantly influenced by many parameters in feature extraction process and may vary depending on environmental factors of image acquisition. The project aims to develop a palmprint recognition system using the phase components in two-dimensional discrete Fourier transforms of palmprint images. This project will use Gabor filter and Fisher linear discriminant processing images and compare the image in database and sample of experiment.
