Power generation during walking -- renewable power generation

...
POWER CRISIS is being one of the major topics to be discussed. The possible solution for this is to provide considerable amount of power using adaptable renewable resources. Among these resources, human population is the only abundant and perennial resource that has not been utilized. If a suitable method is available, expected amount of power can be tapped out from this resource. We have presented the idea to utilize human locomotion power to produce electricity and also we have designed a method named POWER PRODUCING PLATFORM, a large scale project that consists of number of similar mechanical setups under a special flooring system. When people walk over the platform, electricity is generated in this system utilizing the pressure due to weight of the person walking on the platform and stored using dry batteries. This method will have an efficient outcome if installed in countries where population is more. As per this strategy, this method is well suited for our country and a large power can be tapped out  ..

RFID-Based Indoor Localisation System-Abstract

...
Project Definition:
The goal of this project was to develop a system for localisation of people indoors. A reliable indoor localisation system can have many applications, particularly in the assisted living area, e.g. for monitoring whereabouts of elderly people or other people in need of assistance etc. The main idea behind this project is to use RFID technology for localisation. Fixed RFID tags are positioned around the house in places of localisation interest. The person then can wear the portable device that contains the RFID reader as well as other key components like a microprocessor and a Wifi module. The reader will detect RFID tags that are spread around the specified indoor area and then will be able to figure out the approximate position of the wearer (e.g. that the person is near specific spot in the house).
Abstract:
In order to achieve localisation, many factors such as reliability, usability, cost and size of devices have been carefully researched in order to be able to make the wisest choice regarding the equipment and the operation of the system. My main idea was to create a system that would be able locate any person wearing the device I built.
In order to archive that I have built a device with an RFID reader which will be scanning passive tags that will be placed around in fixed positions around the indoor area. Passive tags are the easy to be attached to objects as they are available in cards, stickers etc. which can be placed anywhere in the environment without being noticeable.

The device I have built contains an Ultra High Frequency RFID Reader which is able to scan the tags around the area and together with the Arduino Pro Mini and the CC3000 Wifi Breakout Board, the tag number is then sent over to a local server database where the website which displays the location is retrieving the information from. This way my system is able to determine the location of any person that is wearing the device in the indoor environment that has the tags. This idea is very effective and reliable since the system can not calculate wrong positions as it is physically impossible. Also this way, if is needed the positioning area can be easily expanded to any other indoor area with simply adding a few tags in the room that is needed. The website has been created in order for the system to demonstrate to the viewer the locations of the person that is being tracked in a user friendly way.

Car Black Box Video Recorder-Abstract

...
Objective
The project calls for the design and construction of a car black box video recorder which, in case of a crash, records and stores the 30 seconds before the crash to aid dispute resolution in case of an accident.
It does so by providing an independent eyewitness account of the incident. In this project, the main objective was to build a car black box video recorder by investigating the viability of the idea, looking at existing examples from around the world and tracing the evolution of the camera to find the right type of camera and application for this particular function.
Based on the steep rise in road accidents, it is quite evident that this device could become an industry standard as early. The viability of the device will be examined by looking at the practical uses of such an instrument. Practical aspects like the technical specifications of the camera, memory and the software to be used will also be examined. Issues of cost will be considered in conjunction with the requirements of creating a viable product.

The car black box video recorder is a device fitted on-board a car and saves video recordings of accidents that can be reviewed at a later date.
Moving images can be recorded on film or tape or on digital cards. Film and tape are inconvenient as they involve the use of bulky equipment. For the specific purpose of tracking accidents the use of digital recordings would be optimal. The on-board recording system will capture videos, and store them in a digital format on the RAM in the Raspberry pi.

The system will continually overwrite the RAM memory every one minute retaining the video recorded during the last minute of the video in case of an accident. This video can then be downloaded to a computer and reviewed.

Ultrasonic Radar Using PC Via USB

...
Objective
·        To detect objects within the vicinity of a small area or room
·        To rotate the sensor continuously 360 degrees
·        To use an electro-mechanical device to rotate the ultrasonic sensor without twisting its wires
·        To determine what the angle of the motor is
·        To use a microcontroller for distance measurement and motor control
·        To design an appropriate electronic circuit in order to achieve all the above
·        To program the microcontroller using C language
·        To send the data to the computer via USB
·        To create a graphical user interface using LabVIEW programming
·        To display a Radar display with all the objects detected
Project description:
The aim of this project was to design and implement a Radar system for detection of objects within the vicinity using an ultrasonic range sensor. The sensor needed to be mounted on a rotary shaft in order to scan the area 360 degrees at a suitable (Radar) speed. A Microcontroller was used to control the motor, get the range from the sensor, process the data and send it to the PC via USB. The data needed to be displayed on a PC in real time as a Radar display by plotting the distance of the objects vs the angle of the motor.

Automatic Fluid Dispenser || Electronics and Telecommunication project

...
Abstract--Liquid dispenser machine is commonly found in our daily life in different places like offices, bus stands, railway stations, petrol pumps. In this thesis we are going to present a GUI (graphical user interface) operated liquid dispenser machine. Using a GUI , we can effectively increase operator accuracy, reduce training time and improve overall efficiencies, thus keeping cost down a properly designed GUI can improve overall accuracy. Present liquid dispenser machine available in industries are costly, complex and hard in design and fabrication. Main requirement from this machine is its metering or measuring quality. Accuracy of measuring is very less in various machine. Hence, the basic theme behind this research is to improve these disadvantages of liquid dispenser machine. By surveying the present machines and comparing their present limitations, new model will be fabricated so that designs data can be obtained to formulate experimental data based model for this process. The design of model will be so simple that it can be

adopted easily by small industries. Easy technology will help to reduce metering problem. The present work reports the design and fabrication of liquid dispenser machine which is used in color and pharmaceutical industry.

A Touch Probe Method of Operating an Implantable RFID Tag for Orthopedic Implant Identification

...
Orthopedic implants are a type of joint implant such as knee and hip implant to replace the severelyinjured

or diseased joints for people who suffer from joint problems and bring those people back to a normal life. The total number of knee and hip replacement  surgeries  per year in US keeps increasing  in the recent years and will hit 3.48 million  in 20 years. However, once the implant replacement surgery is finished, doctors and surgeons have difficulty to observe and obtain the detailed information ofthe implant. Existing methods for implant identification suffer from several drawbacks. First, the information is not stored on the implant but somewhere else, which can raise the risk of data loss or counterfeiting. Second, most hospitals use paper based archives to keep the patienthistory whose management is a huge cost. Third, it takes much time to search for the implant and patient information, which does not only increase the risk of mistakes but also increases the cost. Aiming at providing an efficient and accurate way for orthopedic implant identification to reduce time and cost, a method of using radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology, a wire- less radio frequency communication technology, for orthopedic implant identification has been proposed. The proposed solution is to attach a battery free implantable RFID tag on the orthopedic implant.

1.1 OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT
Orthopedic implants are a type of joint implant such as knee and hip implant to replace the severely injured

or diseased joints for people who suffer from joint problems and bring those people back to a normal life.
1.2 RFID TECHNOLOGY
RFID system consists of a reader and a transponder. The reader consist of an antenna and an external interface. The transponder consist of a chip and an  antenna. The reader gets and executes commands from the back end system. Reader emits RF signal via its antenna. The waves travels through the air and energize a passive transponder. Tag responds and transmit data signal via its antenna. Reader captures the tag data signal and processes the signal and transmit the processed signal to the external interface.
1.2.1 REASON FOR USING RFID TECHNOLOGY
There are several reasons to use RFID for implant identification.First, an RFID tag has a rewritable memory large enough for not only an implant ID but also a complete patient registry including patient details, operation details and implant details. Second, the average period for reading an RFID tag is only a few seconds,a lot less than searchinga paper based record.Third, the information is always kept on the implant, so there will be no worry about data loss or counterfeiting. Fourth, the RFID tag can be used as a server to drive a biosensor  for monitoring the status of the implant to help diagnosis, which is a popular research topic at present and will have huge potential applications in the future.
