FETAL ECG EXTRACTION BY EXTENDED STATE KALMAN FILTERING BASED ON SINGLE CHANNEL RECORDINGS

online engineering degree/engineering degree online/online engineering courses/engineering technology online/engineering courses online/engineering technician degree online/online engineering technology/electronic engineering online
ABSTRACT
In this paper, an extended nonlinear Bayesian filtering framework for extracting
electrocardiograms (ECGs) from a single channel as encountered in the fetal ECG extraction
from abdominal sensor is presented. The recorded signals are modeled as the summation of
several ECGs. Each of them is described by a nonlinear dynamic model, previously presented for
the generation of a highly realistic synthetic ECG. Consequently, each ECG has a corresponding
term in this model and can thus be efficiently discriminated even if the waves overlap in time.
The parameter sensitivity analysis for different values of noise level, amplitude, and heart rate
ratios between fetal and maternal ECGs shows its effectiveness for a large set of values of these
parameters. This framework is also validated on the extractions of fetal ECG from actual
abdominal recordings, as well as of actual twin magneto cardiograms.

Key words : Extended Kalman filtering(KKF), fetal electrocardiogram (fECG) extraction, model
based filtering, nonlinear Baysian filtering, twin magnetocardiogram (MCG) extraction.

SPLAT FEATURE CLASSIFICATION WITH APPLICATION TO RETINAL HEMORRHAGE DETECTION IN FUNDUS IMAGES

online engineering degree/engineering degree online/online engineering courses/engineering technology online/engineering courses online/engineering technician degree online/online engineering technology/electronic engineering online
ABSTRACT
A novel splat feature classification method for retinal haemorrhage detection
is presented in this project. The retinal colour images are partitioned into non
overlapping segments covering the entire image. Each segment contains pixels with
similar color and spatial location. The set of features are extracted from each splat to
describe its characteristics relative to its surroundings, employing responses from a
variety of filter bank, interactions with neighbouring splats, shape and texture
information. The optimal subset of splat features is selected by a filter approach. The
Gaussian filter is also used for feature extraction. The splat features are extracted by
using Gaussian filter bank technique. The pre-processing is done by the Histogram
equalization technique. For segmentation, watershed transform is used to detect the
retinal haemorrhage. In this project, the receiver operating characteristics curve at the
splat level and the image level are being taken into consideration. Watershed
algorithm is used to segment the images and the SVM classifiers are used to classify
the segment of images. The MATLAB program was written to detect the retinal
hemorrhages in a diabetic patients.

DETECTION AND SEGMENTATION OF NORMAL AND PATHOLOGICAL TISSUES IN BRAIN MRI

online engineering degree/engineering degree online/online engineering courses/engineering technology online/engineering courses online/engineering technician degree online/online engineering technology/electronic engineering online

ABSTRACT

Segmentation of anatomical regions of the brain is the fundamental problem in medical image analysis. In this paper, a brain tumor segmentation method has been developed and validated segmentation on 2D MRI Data. This method can segment a tumor provided that the desired parameters are set properly. This method does not require any initialization while the others require an initialization inside the tumor. In our segmentation approach adaptive boost segmentation algorithm is used. it uses the intensity as a parameter to segment the whole image data set. The input MRI image is preprocessed and loaded into matlab workspace. In the segmentation process the image is divided into blocks depending on the edge, gray and threshold parameter. The blocks are divided by comparing the intensity value of the image with the parameters as the intensity of the tumor affected area will be higher. Likewise the tumor surface from the MRI image is segmented out. After the detection of the tumor it is then classified using adaptiveboost algorithm which gives the type of the tumor for the doctor's convenience. Here the threshold limit is applied to each image and the limit is tested on the adaptiveboost  algorithm.
