What are your duties at anchor watch ?
Ø Ensure anchor signal is up i.e a black ball shown in the fore port of the vessel during night an all round white light in the fore part of the vessel, if the length of the vessel exceeds 100 meters one more all round white light in the after part of the vessel, the after light must be lower than the forward one.
Ø Check anchor bearings and heading of the ship frequently
Ø See how the chain is leading
Ø Ensure all the flags, EN sign courtesy, companies are flown properly. Keeps vigilance for unauthorized person trying to board
Ø Keep watching port signal station and VHF channel 16 give fog signal
Ø If visibility becomes poor. Switch on all deck lights
Ø Inform duty officer in case any ships come very close to own ship
Ø Keep all scuppers closed
Keep hawse pipe closed to stop thieves entry.
