ABSTRACT
Addition of nano materials to cement paste and concrete have significant effect on performance of Ordinary Portland Cement and Ordinary Portland Cement blend concrete. An attempt has been made to understand the behaviour of cement with nanoparticles and to compare its properties with that of normal cement. Replacement of cement with nano-cement, nano-metakaolin and a combination of both has been tried during this study.
A comparative study between Ordinary Portland Cement and Ordinary Portland Cement containing nano-cement, nano-metakaolin and a hybrid of them on normal consistency, initial, final setting time and compressive strength of mortar cubes has been done. The size of nano-metakaolin and nano-cement is confirmed using Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM). The partial replacement of Ordinary Portland Cement with nano-cement, nano-metakaolin and a hybrid of them has been done at various percentages(1%,2%,3%,4%, 5%,6%,7%,8%,9%,10%,20%,30%,40%).
